Doreen Grasso is a highly effective nonprofit consultant with over 30 years of experience in organizational management, strategic planning, resource development, program development, marketing, and communications.  Her specialty is working with start-up organizations, organizations in transition, and collaborative endeavors.

Doreen has worked with many arts, education, government, human services, and research organizations in Pittsburgh, South Florida, and Northeast Ohio.  In addition to her consulting work, she was formerly the Executive Director of the Parkinson Chapter of Greater Pittsburgh, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, Administrative Director of the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative, Assistant Director of the Office of Cultural Tourism at the Greater Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Bureau, Director of Development for Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Coordinator of Alumni Programs at the University of Pittsburgh, and the Assistant Director of Development and Public Relations at United Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh.  She also was a consultant/trainer with Nonprofits First, which is a leading resource for strengthening the operational and administrative capacity of nonprofit organizations in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Doreen is experienced with the day-to-day operations of nonprofit organizations, including facilitating the development of focused and effective strategic plans, developing policies and procedures, setting up accounting and information systems, and preparing and reporting on operating budgets. She also has extensive experience in marketing and communications, as well as in board, volunteer, and community relations.  

Doreen is a highly successful grant writer with a proven track record of securing major funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.  She has created successful annual appeal campaigns, managed a variety of successful fundraising events, and developed earned income programs.

Her diverse background in program management includes experience in developing and managing numerous educational, mentoring, and networking programs for students, professionals, and the general public.  She also is experienced in setting up and administering grant programs, including the request for proposals, the proposal evaluation process, and monitoring funded projects.

Doreen earned her B.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed additional coursework in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh and in the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University.
